CAN Connection in Audi A4/A5/Q5

The CAN bus on the Air Conditioning console (under the CD player) is very easy to get out, and has more data than the CD player. The two arrows in the picture are CAN-HIGH (wire: Orange-Green, RED pick), and CAN-LOW (Orange-BROWN, BLACK pick).

Is it possible just not tu connect those cables?
If yes, what functions may I loose?
