Hello.
Flexible cables, which are used in head units themselves are very fragile and need to be bent very carefully. Unfortunately, transfer of the sub-board to a different place won't help as the flexible cable still needs to be bent. Therefore, we wrote under the description that the interface must be installed by the highly skilled specialists. If pins on the ribbon cable are damaged, they can be repaired. However, they can be damaged again after shaking or other actions, so we advise to change the ribbon cable.

Yuretz,
It was not the ribbon cable that broke. It was the poor quality cable that came with the interface. That connects between the interface and the sub board that broke. Part # HALVDSC00024. Please re-read my previous post about the design change of the sub board.
Therefore, we wrote under the description that the interface must be installed by the highly skilled specialists.

I agree. I am a mechanical engineer and this is not my first time installing car audio and video equipment. As you can see in the pictures that I posted, I clearly took care and followed your instructions 100%. I asked questions on this forum before I installed the unit because of incomplete instruction manual. Also, even though I installed the unit 100% according to the manual and your instructions, it did/does not function correctly. I still want to get this unit working correctly. So, as I stated in my previous post, I will try the CAN-H/L-LS again today.

As for broken HALVDSC00024 LVDS cable http://car-solutions.com/nfs/product/85 ... nes-25.jpg : it's difficult to brake it down during installation. It seems you were pulling the cable too much and it's out of order but it doesn't mean the cable has poor quality .

As for CAN: please connecting CAN wires as shown on the attached picture.

Yuretz,
I stand behind my comment about poor quality cable. The wires are extremely thin guage, and because of the side exit design, there is almost no clearance for the cable during installation. I can supply pictures if you'd like. I was NOT pulling on the cable too much. I took great care to be delicate with everything.

As for the diagram, there are 2 sets of wires in the harness from the interface that pertain to CAN High and Low. Do I install CAN H& L-HS to the high side Pin4 & CAN-H&L-LS TO the low side Pin3? Or do I do as you suggested earlier about CAN-H-LS TO Pin4 and CAN-L-LS TO Pin and leave the CAN-H/L-HS unused?

Yuretz,
I did try just the CAN-H/L-LS. This did not work either. The unit will still switch via the mode button and remote control, but not by the gear selector or factory buttons.

Hello.
1. Developers of this video interface confirmed that CAN-H/L-HS wires should be connected as shown in the manual.
1. Please provide a clear picture of the barcode on the side of the video interface.
2. Have you tried DIP switched #5 and #6 in different positions?

Yuretz,
Hooray!! It is working! I had to have Dip switch #6 set to on(which, per the manual, is for a Volvo S80). I am very happy. Now I can put my car back together. Another question though... in the future (hopefully very soon), I want to order the navigation box from you. I understand how to hook the 2 units together, but what about the touch screen that I add on. Does it hook to the navigation box, the interface, or the sub board? I see inputs for the touch screen on each.

Thanks,
Joe

Just connect the touch screen directly to the navigation box .

So then this cable is not needed, correct?

Navigation box should have a 4pin touch cable in the package, like this one http://car-solutions.com/nfs/product/85 ... ors-10.jpg . You don't really need to connect touch via this PCB and the interface.
You may connect a touch panel via the PCB if you want to control connected TV tuner or DVD , manual http://car-solutions.com/nfs/product/85 ... manual.pdf , page 17-18 .

Yuretz,
My interface has been working quite well and I am very happy. I am looking at adding a front camera seeing how I have an extra video input. So I was going through the manual again, when I noticed page 14, section 3.3.1, when I put my car in reverse, my screen looks just like the bottom picture. If I am understanding the instructions properly, if I press the cam button, it should switch to full screen view like the top picture. Is this correct? I think that is a great feature. However, mine does nothing when I press the cam button. Is there something that I need to change in the setup menu to add this functionality? It's not a big deal. I am very happy with how it is, but it would be nice to have that option.

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks,

Hello.
Does the NAV button switches inputs if you press it for 2 seconds? Also, try the PIP button on the remote control.

Yuretz,

Yes, the Nav button does switch inputs. I tried the PIP button, that doesn't work.

Thanks,
Joe

Do you really have the CAM button or or does this button just have an empty lable? If you really have, what happens when you are pressing it for 2 seconds on it while the revese is on?
