I've created full iPod control for cs9100/9200.

Hi,
The CS9100 and 9200 are great pieces of kit, but one of their flaws is that they cannot interface with or control iPods or iPhones. Not willing to pay hundreds of pounds for an iPod interface I have written c++ software for the cs9100/9200 that will control your iPod or iPhone music collection from the car touch screen via the USB host port. Like other expensive solutions, with my software you can select tracks by album and artist to play. It even displays the album art whilst your favourite track is playing. The software is almost complete and working brilliantly, I will be posting pictures/videos shortly. Would cs9100/9200 owners be interested in this project? I will be creating a website for it and offering the software to cs9100/9200 owners for a reasonable cost.

Thanks,
James.

Dude if you want to lose a valuable customer, then ban me. I've bought two of your navigation boxes and numerous accessories all in the space of 12 months, spent hundreds of pounds. I will post proof of my app tomorrow before I drive to work.

We are not going to ban you for no reason. On the contrary we are interested in the solution you developed. We just need proofs of what you have written to avoid such situation when you sell “air” via the forum and users are mad at us.

Now let's clear up another issue.

How is iPod/iPhone connected to navigation box? Directly via USB or via special USB-RS232 cable?

What about sound? Is it played by the car audio system passing by CS9100 \ CS9200 (if I'm not mistaken)?

Hi,
iPod is connected to the USB Host port. Sound comes through the cs9200 speaker, or car speakers as I have done by tapping the RGB cables audio output to my cars radio/amp. What is also great is that the CS9200 charges the iPod!

Thanks,
James.

Sorry, but we have a lot of questions:
Is iPod \ iPhone connected to CS9100 \ CS9200 by ordinary USB cable without RS232 adapters?
Is also sound transmitted by USB cable to CS9100 \ CS9200 and further from navigation box to OEM stereo system?
What about drivers for CS9100 \ CS9200? Did you write something yourself and installed into CS9100 \ CS9200?

We also have questions on software issues from iPod \ iPhone side.
As far as we understand you've written some application on IOS for this bundle to work or everything works on some internal iPod \ iPhone commands?
As far as software installed on CS9100 \ CS9200 is concerned, how much resources does it need and whether it can work as background application.

Hi, I'm using an ordinary USB cable that comes with the iPod. I haven't written any special drivers. Anyone with a GPS box and USB Host port can in theory use my application. My app loads the iTunes database from the iPod, using it in the same way as the iPod itself to list albums, artists, play tracks and display album art. No special iPod commands required. No modifications need to be made to the iPod or GPS box. The application is less than 1MB in size, I will have more information about memory and cpu usage soon.
