Will this work with a Jaguar X type?

Postby euanT » 31 Oct 2014, 23:49

Hi I wish to fit this or something similar into my Jaguar X type 2009 with the standard 7" RGB touchscreen. It has a Denso DVD satnav in the boot(trunk) that I will be replacing! Will this fit???? :?:

The centre connector to the DVD SatNav is the RGB + Sync to the touchscreen in the Dash!!! if that helps.

Hi!
Tou will need the following:
1. This video interface. Connect it between the OEm navigation and monitor.
2. This or this navigation box.
3. This touch screen controller. Dismantle the monitor and find flexible cable from the touch screen.

Hi.
This adapter also works as commutator, so the OEM touch screen is preserved.

Hi again,
Thanks for the info, good so far! I have looked at the manuals for the Nav box, video controller and touchscreen controller and they seem quite minimal on detail! Would the instructions supplied with units be any more detailed, especially how the units connect together, the touchscreen controller looks very complicated!! Or is it just my simple mind! I would not want to damage my car or the new system, or is this not possible!

Many thanks

Hi.
Unfortunately, we don't have possibility to make video of this adapter connection, however, you can find all necessary information in this manual.
You can also find additional information and put questions to the developer on our foum here.

Hello again, I have been reliably informed the Jaguar touchscreen is not RESISTIVE, It is a matrix of infrared LED's so you cant easily interface to this. My expert says an overlay will work but which one???
1/ http://car-solutions.com/en/7-resistive ... -panel.php
2/ http://car-solutions.com/en/7-flexible- ... -panel.php
with this controller http://car-solutions.com/en/universal-t ... er-utc.php

Many thanks

Hi.
We have already installed our equipment in cars with such head units and there was a resistive touch screen panel.
Here is the diagram of your case

You will need the following:
1. CS9320 navigation box
2. Video interface for connection to RGB video signal, also you can connect rear view camera and two additional devices (DVD, HD player, TV receiver, etc.).
3. Touch screen controller. You will need it to preserve OEM functions control on the touch screen and to connect to the touch screen. To install the controller, you will need to dismantle the HU and find the flexible cable from the touch screen. You can make the commutator yourself instead of tsc-206im. This is how. If you do it yourself, you will also need USB touch controller (this one for Android, this one for Win CE).

Here is the navigation connectors pionout

Hi again, I have had it confirmed again from another source that the jaguar X type does not have a resistive touchscreen!!
they say i require this overlay; http://car-solutions.com/en/7-flexible- ... -panel.php with this cable; http://car-solutions.com/en/cable-for-t ... -4-pin.php will this connect to the CS9320???
Many thanks

Hi,
It will work but you will lose the OEM functions. You need to dismantle the monitor yourself and make sure that there is a resistive touch screen.

Hi again, I have stripped down the touchscreen display and it does not have a membrane or ribbon cable!! it has a matrix of led's. They way the led matrix works is you have infrared led's along the top and one side of the bezel (ie x and y directions). These are the transmitter On the opposing side you have infared diodes. these are recievers, each LED/Doide form a single beam!! When you touch the screen you are touching the actual lcd. This breaks a beam in the X and Y directions and gives the system the touch position.
So I propose to fit a membrane over this screen, I have tried it, it works!!!
I propose to use this membrane; http://car-solutions.com/en/7-flexible- ... -panel.php I will then connect the membrane to the android (4pin touch input) with the cable
http://car-solutions.com/en/cable-fo...tion-4-pin.php
I will then connect the video interface, I will cut the R,G,B,S wires at the back of the DVD satnav The Head unit end goes to the RGB (OUT) on the video interface
The NAV end end goes to the OEM (in) on the video interface
The Android's RGB out goes to the video interface NAV (in)
The video interface comes with a log cable and switch
On the back of the video interface are dip switches (MODE)
The audio will connect into the car ACM module!

What do you think??
regards
