Internet connection Modem manager

Postby pandavi » 17 Feb 2012, 11:53

Hello,

I have installed the CS9100 in my car Mercedes GLK, together with the Video interface, with your support everything is working great!

I was trying to connect to the internet using the 3g USB Modem, it is dialing and connecting, however after 2-3 minutes it says: "You have been disconnected from the remote computer you have dialed check the baud rate settings and try again"

I have changed to every available baud rate, but it is stil the same.

I have noticed also that I can't run the "Modem Manager" the file must be corrupt, can I get / download this application to have it again? I would like to reinstall it.

Please help!

Thank you!

Hello,

Provide us with more detailed information, please.
1. What modem exactly are you using?
2. Are you using USb power buster along with the modem?
3. What network provider are you using for the Internet connection?
4. What modem initialization string for the above mentioned operator in your country (this information available at the operator's official web site)?

Thank you for your reply!

1.It is MobiData 500UH HSPA USB Modem, compatible with Win CE 5 (on Arm)
I have installed the driver and it is functioning. The driver is now on the Resident Flash and the registry is set accordingly.
As sayd, it is functioning, during "connect" it is dialing and says "Connected"

2.I am using a USB Hub, each connector provides .5 Amp, I have therefore jumperred the +5V pin of 3 ports on it's board, so now the modem is connected to one of the 3 and can get 1.5 Amps. from it's connector.

3 The provider is Orange Israel.

4. The string is: +CGCONT=1,"IP",uinternet"
Dialing *99***1#
No User id no Password required
No Area code
This I got from the provider.

On Win xp and Win 7 it connects and working fine.

Another problem, the Connections tab option in the Control Panel is in Russian, difficult to figure out if you don't read Russ. Can it be changed to Eng.?

Finaly, as I have mentioned in my post, the "Modem Manager" is not functional, it may be that the EXE file has been damaged, I was trying toread it. I would very much like to receive it again by mail or download to have it back in the system.

Thank you again!

  1. What driver, exactly, did you use to connect modem to the Navigation module CS9100?Was it 232USB or CDC?
  2. Which COM ports were used for the installation of virtual devices that are used by the modem? After modem has been connected few virtual devices appears in the system, each of them uses separate COM port. In case of using our modem system is balanced and device/COM port conflict doesn't appear. In your case problems like disables GPS/Remote Control etc. can appear.
  3. Modem software was developed by outsource programmers especially for the Huawei and ZTE modems, it won't work with other modem brands.

We recommend to use our modems, only. They were tested and approved to be supported by WinCE, as well as the system is ready to work properly with these devices. If you use other devices that were not tested by our developers we can not guarantee their stable work as well as their functionality.

Thank you for your reply.

I have installed my modem WIN CE5 driver which has been given to me by the vendor, it is CDC and uses com port 7.
The driver has been installed in the "Resident Flash" due to the fact that the windows directory in non persistant.
All the registry keys re the driver are prompting to this location.

There are no com port conlicts.

The fact is that the device does recognize my modem and even dialing and says Connected.

I know from your sales department that the 9100 is configured to work with your ZTE or Huawey modem only, however, Win Ce should be open for other usb modems, you have configured the 9100 to work only with yours, which is a bit unfair, after spending a lot of $ for the 9100 +the video interface, i would expect it to work with other modems as well.

I wanted to buy your modem, however, thechnicaly it could not be achieved, shipping cost were more than the modem cost! so I found another modem compatible with WIN CE5, and I have managed to install it, why not be able to enjoy it?

Before picking up the 2 boxes I have purchased from you, I gave the people in HK my modem's driver and install sw, to put it in the system, they said OK but later told me it was not done, (by your company order).

I would very much appreciate if you could have the Modem Manager file sent to my email, together with the original Rgistry file (you may send me a Reg export file from a new device, my car is Mercedes GLK), I would like to have my CS9100 device contain all the original files,to restore it to the original configuration and clean the registry from the new entries I have made. The Modem Manager file is not functioning because I have been trying to read it and I did not save the original, my fault, but I believe it is not such a big deal to send both files to my email (reisberg@bezeqint.net)

If you wish I could send you my modem's files for your people to see, I still believe it can be used with your CS9100.
Thank you!

In fact WinCE operation system at your CS9100 is "open" for installing of addition devices. If you have skills in WinCE register and great storage of knowledge you'll be able to install any device in the presence of required drivers for this OS. We are unable to spend long time and cash to purchase various amount of different modems to add them to the list of supported.
We have chosen most stable modem (Only this have taken a lot of time), choose most stable firmware and performed various modification to it.
Thus, the user receives workable solution, and does not waste his time.

Let's say you have MobiData 500UH HSPA USB Modem in your hands.
  1. First of all you need to determine whether it is possible to disable Zero-CD in this modem, for it to be working in "modem only" mode, without additional devices.
For example we have made this operation with the help of QPST software. We won't show/write how to use this software because specialized forums exist for such purposes.
Also, this operation can be performed via AT-commands if you know them.
  2. Let's say you have connected phone in "modem only " mode.
  3. You'll need to clear register from all the data that was modified in it, otherwise it won't work.

If you will perform operations mentioned above we'll be able to describe next steps to be taken.

Thank you for your reply and efforts to help me with the modem.

1.I have already set the modem to modem only with AT command using Hyper Terminal.
2.Installing the driver involves registry new entries, with the installation pack there are 2 Reg files which contain the additional new values, Mobidata.reg and ras.reg, if you mean that I should clean the device registry from the new entries, no problem, these files are readable and I can follow each entry and remove it from the registry. In addition to that there is the driver UsbSreialDriver.dll and the executable file setmobidata.ns which contains the commands to execute the installation and creatind a dia lup connection shortcut (which is hidden on the desktop screen under the cs9100 menu screen) I access it through the control panel.
3.I have made one modification to the new reg entry by changing the port # from 8 to 7. I have also removed other connection reg values which are reffering to Huawei and ZTE modems,
As a result, the new connection has used my modem to connect without port conflicts.

4. If what you say " clear register from all the data that was modified in it" is reffering to a register in the Modem, I don't know how to access it.

5.Due to all the cahnges I have made to the original 9100 registry, I have asked you for a registry export file from a new device, just in case I wish to have the registry restored to it's original. unfortunatly I have not saved one myself. In any case all the other device's options are working fine. I also wish to receive a new ModemManager.exe file.

6.I have to say I am very happy with choosing the CS 9100 and the CS video interface, it gives me all I wanted to add to the existing system in my car and it is well integrated without changines to the existing functions of the car oem unit.
I will do my best to have a video or pics of the functionality of the Car-Solutions devices installed in my car sent to you.

Thanks again for your efforts, I appreciate it!!!

Please, insert registry branches you imported into navigation box registry in your message. When I told you about registry modification I meant CS9100 navigation box registry.

What do you mean by: "Get new ModemManager.exe file"? If you meant ModemManager with your modem support, unfortunately, it won’t work. We can solve this problem only if we have these modems. Alas, we do not have enough time to work on ModemManager for now.

I was not expecting you to have the modem manager modified for my modem, I would just like to have it back in my system, it was my mistake to have it removed, I would like to have the original file back, altough it is only for your modem.

The lines in files I have imported to the registry:
